The Variety Club of Ireland hosted an event at The D4 Berkeley Hotel in Ballsbridge Dublin on Saturday night to present the Variety Club Humanitarian Award to Chairman of Miss World Ltd and the International President of Variety Children’s Charity, Julia Morley.
MC for the night was Brian Ormond, and the current Miss World Kaiane Aldorino as well as Miss World 2002 Azra Akin who jetted into Ireland for the occasion. A large number of Irish children and children’s hospitals in Ireland have benefited from the ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ initiative which has raised millions of Euro and past recipients of this award include Kerry Katona and Caroline Desmond.
In attendance were Models Pippa O Connor, Leah O Reilly and Michelle McGrath as well as Mr World Kamal Ibrahim, RTE Presenter Geri Maye and a host of well known faces from the Irish social set.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Humanitarian Award to their International President Julia Morley. Over many years Julia has been a generous sponsor and through her Miss World Organisation has saved the lives of countless children over the globe, bringing hope to those in despair, healing to the sick and forgotten poor, and lasting change to hundreds and thousands of lives in developing countries.
