It appears the tuxedo is set to become a recession best-seller at Tesco as it goes on sale for just €57.50! Considering the average price to rent a tux is about €55 for a single use, to buy your own at this knock-down price makes a lot of sense. Or does it?
The Tesco Tux can be bought as separates and consists of a single-breasted jacket (€41) and co-ordinating trousers (€16.50). Top it all off with a shirt and bow tie set for only €7 and you’re all set for any black tie event. Perhaps.
Admittedly it’s unlikely to fit like a Louis Copeland. Remember with any suit, but particularly a tux, the cut, tailoring and fabric ultimately is what’s going to make you look a million dollars. That said it depends on the occasion and your budget.
So what do you think? Is the tux a piece that should never be done on the cheap or would you be happy to attend a black-tie event in Tesco’s best?
