Mark Byrne, Senior Colorist in Brown Sugar fills us in on this season’s biggest hair trends – today we’re talking Balayage!

The biggest color trend this season has been ‘Balayage’; this is when there is highlights put through the ends of the hair & the root’s left darker. Rocking some great Balayage looks at the moment are Drew Barrymore, Gisele & Sarah Jessica Parker.

The Balayage is such a great versatile and low maintenance way of having highlights, which can be as bold or as subtle as the client prefers. With any color, ‘homecare’ is essential. For blonde clients I always recommend the ‘serie expert shine blonde’ shampoo & conditioner. These products contain a small amount of mauve ash that neutralizes gold, which will keep your highlights fresh until your next Salon visit. And of course a treatment applied to the hair once a week is a must. The ‘Kérastase age recharge treatment’ is a favorite of mine; it contains protein, which helps to keep the hair strong and moisturized, & will leave the hair feeling soft and shiny.
