From the voluminous, free-flowing nude skirts at Lanvin to the column-like colour block skirts at Issa – one thing is for certain this spring, Maxi skirts are back. Not that they were away for very long – but usually they have the decency to excuse themselves until high summer…but not this year. Oh no. If the seasonal catwalks were anything to go by – and they always are – Maxi skirts will be a staple from now right through to the inevitable Indian Summer.
One of the more stunning renditions of the maxi was by Chloe (pic below), as per usual Hannah MacGibbon kept the palette and style of the French label neutral and simplistic. Zara have a similar skirt to those featured on the Chloe catwalk, specifically the Long Pleat skirt (€14.99) in camel.
At the moment, ASOS also have some simple and chic maxi skirts in stock, namely the LnA Column Maxi Skirt (€102.56), it comes in both black and grey and has an elasticated waist-band for those of us still attempting to get rid of those pesky Christmas pounds (cough cough). Team it with a simple block colour tee, long knit neutral cardigan and ankle boots for that perfect transitional outfit. For something with a bit more detail, check out the Skeleton Leaf Print Pleated Maxi Skirt (€75) from Topshop (pic below), the muted colours and pleating is so on-trend for this season whereas the leaf details give this skirt a distinctive edge, wear yours with a pair of lace-up wedge boots – they are everywhere at the moment, Penneys have a stunning pair with buckle detail (€21) in stores right now.
