We’re not quite a nation of Imedla Marcos proportions just yet but according to a new survey we’re not too far off it! A recent survey that looks at the question ‘What is it with women and shoes?” gives an interesting insight into Irish women’s fascination with and love of shoes!!
According to the survey on attitudes to shoes by www.Pigsback.com, most women own between 16 and 30 pairs of shoes and admit to choosing their foot candy on appearance first, rating it significantly higher than comfort, price and durability.
The women who took part in the survey also reported experiencing genuine emotions, including mood and confidence boosts, in their interaction with their favourite footwear. By contrast, most men own fewer than five pairs (no surprise there) and rate shoes as the bottom of the pile in spending priorities, preferring to splash their cash on travel and electronics, or even a flutter on the horses!
Almost a fifth of the 1,000 respondents had between 30 and 100 pairs of fabulous footwear lining their closets. While not one of the male respondents owns more than 50 pairs of shoes (turns out I’m unique among Irish men but I always did have a soft spot for footwear!)
The survey also revealed ladies are far less price sensitive when it comes to dressing their tootsies with 20% of all female respondents having spent over €150 and up to €450 on their most expensive pair of shoes.
Are you surprised with the results? How much would you spend on some fabulous heels? Let me know your thoughts!
