Anyone who appreciates some good grub after a hard days shopping in Dublin city centre will know of the Exchequer. Last night the Gastropub celebrated a wildly successful first year with a party for family, friends and regulars. Owners Peter Rock and Ian Tucker welcomed guests including Kathryn Thomas, Gordon D’Arcy, Peter’s father Dickie Rock & family, Andrea Roche, Paddy Cullivan, Fair City’s Aoibhin Garrihy and members of the Ireland rugby squad amongst others.
Kathryn Thomas welcomed the guests and talked about the reasons that The Exchequer quickly became a favourite haunt for her and many others, before joining Peter and Ian to blow out the candle on a large birthday cake. Thanking her, Ian announced that in recognition of Kathryn’s recent climb of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Our Lady’s Childrens Hospital Crumlin, The Exchequer had designed a new cocktail for their menu, named ‘Kathryn’s Peaks’ and €2 from every one sold would be donated to her charity. Kathryn’s Peaks, available from next week, is made up of vodka, orange, mint, pink peppercorns, and a tea liquor, with plenty of ice, inspired by the features of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Since opening its doors in October 2009, The Exchequer and its staff has won the ‘Best Gastropub in Ireland’ and ‘Best Pub Grub in Dublin’ awards. Carving out its very own niche in the heart of Dublin, The Exchequer has successfully struck the Gastropub balance between city centre late night bar and destination dining, and is as well known for its ever-changing menu of excellent innovative pub grub, as it is for its DJs and cocktail menu.
Don’t take our word for it, check it out for yourself!
