TESCO STAFF MEMBERS CROWNED FACES OF TESCO 2011

Regular readers (and followers of @darrenken on twitter) will know that I was involved in the search for the new Face of Tesco Ireland – a nationwide Tesco staff modelling competition which sought to find three staff members to model in the company’s Autumn Winter Clothing PR Campaign in Ireland, later this year.

On Wednesday the grand finale was held at the Aviva with 7 finalists from stores all over the country traveling up to the capital with family, friends and co-workers coming along to support.

It really was a great afternoon with a fantastic atmosphere…and what an opportunity for the winners! Tesco staff members, George Papageorgiou, Rachel Geoghegan and Nicola Hutchinson were eventually crowned the Faces of Tesco 2011.

The Face of Tesco staff model search began in May when Tesco staff were invited to take part in the contest by submitting their photographs and filling out the competition form. From there the Judges selected just 14 semi-finalists, who then went on to take part in a staff text vote, to win their place in the Grand Final. The expert panel of Judges who had the difficult task of selecting the overall winners were model agency boss Rebecca Morgan, Fashion Editor Bairbre Power and TV Presenter & Style Guru Darren Kennedy (that’ moi!).

Speaking at the Grand Final, Tesco Ireland Clothing Manager, Bo Carty, said; “We would like to congratulate George, Rachel, and Nicola on this fantastic win. Their looks and personalities were exactly what the judges were looking for in the competition and we look forward to working with them on our Autumn Winter shoot. We would also like to congratulate all of our finalists for reaching this stage and also thank all of our colleagues who entered the contest.”

The Tesco search aimed to find one male, one female and one plus size male/female to model in the campaign. The winners received a prize chest, including a professional photo shoot, a Tesco wardrobe and professional style, hair & make-up consultations.
