Metallics are always expected to make a resurgence when autumn/winter comes around, but this year they are taking center stage as a glimmering rebuttal to the bare faced trends seen on most runways. Silver in particular has really become the colour de jour with Chanel and designer Derek Lam leading the fashion pack. Chanel’s new Illusion D’Ombre eye shadows are a unique formulation that feel and blend like a cream shadow but have the intensity of a powder shadow. The collection features 6 new metallic shades that are long wearing and highly pigmented creating a high impact, lasting result for sultry nighttime eyes.

Quick Tip: If you’re thinking of going for silver tones on blue, grey or green eyes, be sure to off set it with black along the lash line as this will stop you from looking washed out.

For extra tips, check out Sarah’s feature on Mega Metallics using Maybelline for TV3′s Xposé

TV producer Debbie O’Donnell, originally from Cork now living in Dublin, has been at the helm of TV3′s Xpose since its launch in 2007. During that time Debbie has led the Xpose team from strength to strength, got married, had a beautiful baby boy and still manages to always look fantastic attending some of the country’s glitziest red carpets events.

Describe your style in five words?
Simple, unfussy, tailored, high heeled

What’s your beauty essential?
For the last 6 months I have used Dermalogica products religiously. I never leave the house without an SPF 30, whatever works! Unfortunately it ain’t going to turn back the hand of time but it can help slow it down.

What item could you not live without?
A pencil skirt and a pair of heels. I feel much more confident in my heels than flats – not to mention taller. Also, my phone – it’s like my right arm.

If your house was on fire and you’d only time to save one thing, what would it be?
First I’d put on my Louboutin boots to keep them safe and then I’d go back and rescue my husband & son of course!

Most desired fashion item at the moment?
My trainers – need to get back into shape after the Christmas cake.

Best style tip?
Don’t be a slave to trends. Wear what suits your body not what suits someone else’s body.

Favourite highstreet designer collaboration?
Undoubtedly, the H&M/Lanvin collaboration. Truly spectacular. It was great to have a bit of the designer in my wardrobe but for a fraction of the designer price tag. H&M really are ahead of the game right now. I predict that 2011 will bring a H&M/Tom Ford collaboration, but that could be just wishful thinking.

What’s in your handbag right now?
I am not a big bag lady but I do love my Deborah Veale, camel coloured satchel. I can throw everything and it always looks good.

Who is your style-crush?
Tamara Mellon, oh to have her collection of shoes. Also, I love Blake Lively’s style.

Worst and/or best shopping experience?
I didn’t know there was such a thing as a bad shopping experience. Best one? Pre-recession, pre child, guilt free shopping. Sadly just a memory now but it was great while it lasted

Best high street store or boutique?
Zara would have to be my favourite high street shop, whether it is for work or a formal occasion it never lets me down. I love Brown Thomas or Harvey Nichols for an occasion piece.

What is your travel essential?
Food. When traveling I’d be happy with coffee on tap but my husband and 3 year old son get this thing where they get crabby without constant carbs, so lots of dry un-spillable food keeps them quiet and it’s my travel essential.

Fashion on the web?
Net-a-porter is brilliant for fashion forward designer fashion. For more affordable, edgier styles I like ASOS.com

Worst fashion moment?
A leather mini skirt I wore when I was about 14, sounds not too bad but then it was teamed with a full length (borrowed) leather coat. Yikes! Thankfully no photos exist from that time..

What era of style would you most like see return to fashion?
The 40’s/50’s. I love the red lipstick and ‘Madmen’esque, feminine style but with a contemporary twist – hair, make up or accessories.

Finally, what do you want your style to say about you?
It doesn’t define me.

Best style tip?
Never buy right on trend fashion. Especially when in a recession. Buy clothes that won’t date too much. Black is always a safe bet.

Who’s your ultimate style-crush?
It has to be Sienna Miller or Kate Moss.

Best – always in Topshop.
Worst – Selfridges in London as I want everything in it but can’t afford it.

Aisling O’Loughlin is one of the original presenters on TV3′s Xpose. She’s interviewed practically every Hollywood A-lister from George Clooney to Renee Zellweger. Never shy to take a fashion risk, Aisling made headlines when she cropped her hair off going for a daring pixie look – which we have to say she pulls off with great aplomb! We sat down with Aisling to find out more about this girls laid back approach to fashion…

Describe your style in five words?
Willing to try anything once!

What’s your beauty essential?
I’ve two: Mascara and blusher. My face is invisible unless I colour myself in, so these two products are essential unless of course I want to stay under the radar.

What item could you not live without?
I hate to say it but I am lost without my mobile phone. I just feel utterly disconnected without it nearby. I’m looking at it right now and it gives me a warm, cosy feeling within.

If your house was on fire and you’d only time to save one thing, what would it be?
Probably my laptop because it has all my music, photos and contacts on it so it’s pretty precious to me. Although I’d probably face the flames to go back and save my new sitting room curtains that have cost me a small fortune!

Most desired fashion item at the moment?
I’m loving the 1950s vibe around at the moment so anything with a full skirt and a cinched in waist is catching my attention right now.

Best style tip?
Accentuate the positive and conceal the negative.

What’s in your handbag right now?
A note-book, a pen, my diary and my mobile phone. (I’ve a separate bag for my face which has to be carried after me by a team of four strong men!)

Who is you style crush?
Kate Bosworth rarely gets it wrong.

Worst or Best shopping experience?
The end of the Brown Thomas summer sale….heaven!

Best high street store or boutique?
The Attic in A-Wear is a treasure chest of winners. They’ve a great price range too.

Favourite place to shop?
Heathrow airport. What else is a girl supposed to do hanging around departures all night after a hard day on the red carpet?

What is your travel essential?
Water. I go all Benjamin Button in the early years if I don’t down some H2O, so it’s vital before small children burst in to tears and ruin the flight.

Fashion on the web?
Style.com is great for trends and beautiful people but nothing compares to helpmystyle.ie for the best tips in town!
HMS: Ahhhhh thanks Aisling

Worst fashion moment?
If only it was a moment. I’m clocking hours at this stage but you can’t take it too seriously! Anything too trend based tends to lead to regrets later. The Herald recently ran a piece of me wearing the same dress as two others on the same night and let’s just say I wasn’t leading the posse. That certainly wasn’t a great fashion moment. Shall I go on?

What era of style would you most like see return to fashion?
It has to be the 1950s. I love how neat and tidy everybody looked although I probably would have gone off my head if I lived in that era. It’s good to mess around with it now and dirty it up a bit.

Finally, what do you want your style to say about you?
I would like it to say that I am an individual who enjoys the freedom and the expression of wearing what I like on any given day. It’s a real privilege!

After a year long stint working on TV3′s Xpose, Sean Munsanje is moving on to pastures new and very much looking forward to what the future holds. Always a man who looks well and takes pride in his appearance we caught up with Sean to get his sartorial secrets and dive into his Prada man-bag!

Describe your style in five words?
Fun, modern and hopefully good!

What’s your beauty essential?
Kiehl’s facial fuel. Does exactly what it says on the tin and I’m thrilled its finally available in Ireland.

What item could you not live without?
My new iPad. I’ve grown quite attached very quickly.

If your house was on fire and you’d only time to save one thing, what would it be?
My Prada man-bag. It’s a classic black leather calfskin one I got as a present last year and I guard it with my life.

What’s top of your fashion wish list at the moment?
A new pair of brogues. I had a D&G pair that I wore a lot over the last 3 years and recently lost one (don’t ask!). The great thing about them was the more you wear them the better they look.

Best style tip?
Never wear something you don’t feel comfortable wearing, it always shows. Don’t feel you have to wear trends just because they’re of the moment. It’s better to be classically stylish then looking like a bad Alexa Chung impersonator in trends that don’t suit you!

Who is you style-crush?
Tom Ford. Classically cool and always with a small twist like a corsage on his suit/tux jacket. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to afford one of his suits!

Worst/best shopping experience?
Woodbury Common in New York is the best. Talk about heaven with picket fences! Worst is queues at Christmas. I like Christmas shopping but I can’t deal with the huge queues just to pay.

Best highstreet store or boutique?
River Island and Zara.

Favourite place to shop?
For more formal or sharp clothes Louis Copeland and Hugo Boss. For more casual River Island and All Saints.

What is your travel essential?
Crème De La Mer ‘The Mist’. This was sent in to me and if you travel all the time a few spritzs’ of this when you get off a flight instantly gives you a new lease of life and makes you look fresh.

Fashion on the web?
The Sartorialist. His photos are always so interesting and his angle on fashion is brilliant. Great way of keeping up and spotting upcoming trends.

Worst fashion moment?
Early 90’s flat top haircut I had like Will Smith’s aka ‘The Fresh Price’. Cringe!

What era of style would you most like see return to fashion?
The 60’s. I’m loving the style in ‘Mad Men’ at the moment and would love some of the suits!

Finally, what do you want your style to say about you?
This is me, take it or leave it.

The Mansion House on Dublin’s Kildare Street was the place to be on Saturday night as a host of familiar faces from the small screen took to the red carpet for the Walkers TV NOW awards.

The team of TV3′s Xpose were as glamorous as ever, in particular Karen Koster stood out wearing a beautiful white Grecian style dress. Glenda Gilson, who was hosting the awards alongside Michael O’Doherty, looked stunning in a creation from Coco Boutique.

Other stand out looks on the night included glamorous Gaelgoirs Grainne and Sile Seoige, Brendan Courtney, Mary Kennedy, Kathryn Thomas, Sonya Lennon (her fab dress was designed for the night by the fabulous Tim Ryan, available through Elaine Curtis in Carlow), Lorraine Keane, Celia Holman-Lee, Anne Doyle (who’s speech on the night has become one of the highlights of the yearly ceremony!) and of course we have to mention Jedward. Stylist Lisa Fitzpatrick wore a navy & white silk dress with vintage lace by Marion Murphy Cooney while model Pippa O’Connor wore a dress from Soho boutique in Naas.

See pictures below…love or loathe any? Tell us what you think.

Economic woes or not, our love affair with shoes shows no sign of abating. OK so we know shops like Topshop and River Island stock some great shoes at relatively affordable prices. The only problem is these shoes are mass produced and you’re guaranteed at some stage you’re going to bump into someone else sporting the same heels at the same time. Not the ideal situation.

‘Rockin Reptile’ however are a collection of limited edition shoes designed for the lady who is not afraid to be noticed with a penchant for raising eyebrows. Stocked in a limited number of boutiques around the country each pair is one of a limited edition and comes with a detailed Rockin Reptile card indicating its name and number in the collection. Ensuring exclusivity without the price tag. Also available to buy online, there’s currently a sale on certain items on their site. With prices starting from €65 it would be rude not to!

Anyone who was on Dublin’s Henry St on Saturday could not have helped but notice the queue of gorgeous gals lining up on the red carpet outside Arnotts. Some of the country’s most natural, stylish & gorgeous undiscovered beauties from all parts of Ireland (many getting up at 4am to travel from Cork, Kerry, Galway, Donegal etc) were out in force to audition for the Be The Face Of Rockstar Tan competition.

I was asked to be part of the judging panel alongside Xpose’s Karen Koster, Trish Fallon of 1st Options Model agency, Top photographer Lili Forberg and Rockstar Tan Founder (and actress!) Rachel Kavanagh.

To say the turnout was better than expected is an understatement. Auditions were supposed to finish at 4pm but we didn’t wrap until closer to 6pm but it was well worth it. Lili was taking snaps of some of the girls, here’s a peek

A regular on the country’s best dressed lists, Karen Koster presenter of TV3′s Xpose, is one lady who knows how to dress well for any occasion. Whether she’s working the casual look in a pair of jeans or dressed up for the red carpet, Karen always hits the right notes style-wise. So we caught up with her to delve into her handbag and unearth her secrets to looking stylish…

What’s in your handbag?
Way too much stuff. I carry an arsenal of weaponry with me so that I can make myself camera ready no matter what happens in the day. I always need my full makeup bag with me. Then I always have a jewellery pouch with me, as with filming I could end up in three different outfits during the day and need to switch earrings. Then there’s my phone, diary, pens, notebook….and then usually a banana in case I get hungry!

What five words best describe your style?
Bright, cute, feminine, fickle, and fast! I get through a lot of clothes very quickly with this job!

Worst fashion moment?
Just the other week I wore a black dress on Xpose, but wore a white bra by mistake. You could see my bra glowing through the dress. So the camera man had to film me from far away to keep me decent!

Best style tip?
Keep it classy! Too many young girls are looking like glamour models on night’s out. Trashy is never fashionable.

What’s top of your fashion-wishlist at the moment?
Yves Saint Laurent tribute sandals in cracked gold. I’d never splash out on them though! Way too expensive.

Favourite item in your wardrobe right now?
My leather jacket with waterfall neckline from Oasis. Softest leather ever. And looks like the more expensive All Saints version for half the price.

Worst and/or best shopping experience?
In general I hate shopping on weekends, can’t stand the carparks or the crowds. So that’s always the worst. My best was when I got nude Gina sandals in the Harrods sale for half price. I had wanted them for ages and then found them on a work trip to London. The perks of travelling with the job eh?

Best high street store?
Karen Millen

Favourite place to shop?
As above. I love the staff, they really look after me.

Fashion on the web?
I’m desperate, I might occasionally look at style.com but other than that, I never really check out fashion on the web.

Who epitomises great style?
I’m going to go for one of our own, Glenda Gilson. I get wardrobe envy when I see her outfits sometimes.

What era of style would you most like see return to fashion?
None really, I like to keep looking forward!

Finally, what do you hope to achieve in 2010?
I would love Xpose to win a TV Award.

Lisa Fitzpatrick is one of TV3′s regular stylists, bringing the latest trends to screens on Ireland AM and Xpose. A regular on many a best-dressed list herself, Lisa has developed a well-earned reputation for her work and counts Rosanna Davidson as one of her clients. Having started her career working for a wholesale clothing company, Lisa has traveling the world in search of the most exotic fabrics and styles. We speak to the glamorous mum about her beauty secrets…

What five words best describe your style?
Elegant, comfortable, stylish, affordable, sexy – It all depends on where I am going and who I am with – Sexy for my husband; Stylish for me; Elegant for co-orporate events; Comfortable for school run and lazy days; Affordable always as great value in the highstreet and yet I do splash out sometimes on good bags, shoes and coats.

Best style tip?
It is always better to be slightly under-dressed. I really believe you should not follow trends but wear what makes you feel good wearing and don’t worry what anybody else thinks if you feel good go for it, “all style is personal-that’s what distinguishes it from fashion”- Fran lebowitz.

Favourite item in your wardrobe at the moment?
Love my Biege wool coat from zara great deal in the January sale love it!

What’s in your handbag right now?
I always make the mistake and all my friends give out to me for ruining the look of all my bags as I do bag overload. Are you ready, I have a list – mobile, way too much make-up, 4 x lipglosses, Hermes perfume, hairspray, hairbrush, keys, hand lotion (I have awful dry hands), notebook for all my crazy ideas, 3 x pens borrowed by my daughter, my diary (I am very old fashioned I don’t use my phone diary), tissues, wallet and mints. I change bags often and manage to throw in all the same stuff!

What makeup do you use?
Vichy foundation, Kohl mascara, liner, eye shadows, gloss, lipstick, blusher and Dior liquid eyeliner.

Top beauty pick?
Kohl Champagne Mineral sheer veil, amazing glow for cheeks and body or you can apply before you apply foundation. It gives that Victoria Beckham glow and is available at Brown sugar.

Worst and/or best shopping experience?
My worst: Pregnant was awful, I wore a black wrap dress for 9 months and binned it when Sophie was 3 months. I remember trying to get clothes to fit and just couldn’t as I was very big before I got pregnant.
Best: shopping for my wedding dress. I have never felt or worn a dress like it, I wish I could wear it again but marry the same man.

Best high street store?
No Name

Favourite place to shop?
Lock me up in Brown Thomas for a night I’d love it. Also Fran and Jane, Misamu, Oasis and A-wear

Fashion on the web?
HelpMyStyle.ie and I enjoy watching Expose and E entertainment to see what presenters wear and enjoy contents of both shows.

Worst fashion moment?
Which one! I have learned from some very odd, dodgy Fashion mistakes, too many to mention and still making them but happy to try new looks.

Who epitomises great style?
Audrey Hepburn, Victoria beckham, Alison Doody.

What era of style would you most like see return to fashion?
Mid 1950’s

A regular on Off The Rails and Xpose, one of Ireland’s most talented and in-demand stylists, it’s the gorgeous red head that is Angela Scanlon. Also a fashion journalist, she writes for the Irish Independent and this month sees the launch of her brand new “Walking Wardrobe” feature in Irish Tatler. We sat down with her to pick her brains on all things style…

What five words best describe your style?
Casual, boyish, loose, tight, comfort.

Best style tip?
Give yourself something that becomes a signature. Maybe always wear a scarf or a slick of black eyeliner. Something that is recognisable and identifiable with you.

Favourite item in your wardrobe right now?
My Chloe coat. It’s black, tailored, masculine and slightly military-a combination of all my greatest fashion loves!

What’s in your handbag right now?
Oh… iPhone, passport, a copy of i -D magazine, Nurofen, my diary, a notebook, water, lip balm, nail polish.

Worst and/or best shopping experience?
Shopping is so closely linked with work for me so I’m very focused. I’ll usually know exactly what I want or pick things up if I’m pulling for a shoot. It’s targeted and quick. Less an “experience”, more a necessity!

Best high street store?
Topshop. I also love Zara though I think this season is weaker than past ones.

Favourite place to shop?
Humana vintage store in Milan-it’s heavenly, cheap and the owner flies around digging out pieces she “just knows you’ll love”! She’s usually right. In Dublin, I love Circus in Powerscourt Townhouse.

Fashion haunts online?
The Sartorialist, style.com, thebusinessoffashion, jakandjil.com.

Worst fashion moment?
My ex’s friend dumping my favourite pair of shoes “by accident”. I still wince at the loss…

Who epitomises great style?
I would happily steal from either of the Olsens. People who look at ease and unaware of themselves appeal to me most. Never anybody too polished.

What style would you most like see make a return to fashion?
None specifically. I love that people are now mixing clothes from different eras-it’s the only way to keep it from looking a bit costume-y. Designers are revisiting the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and most recently the 90’s. Borrowing elements rather than adopting the guise of a particular era is more fun!

TV3′s Sybil Mulcahy presenter of The Morning Show with Sybil & Martin and former reporter on XPOSÉ certainly knows a thing or two about looking her best. Juggling a career in front of the camera as well as her family life (she has two children Hugh & Genevieve), she’s mastered the art of looking great without having to invest too much time and effort in the process. So we caught up the glam Dubliner to talk style and see how she manages it…

What five words best describe your style?
Hit and Miss but trying!

Best style tip?
Always buy your jeans a size too small as they will stretch to fit you perfectly after a wear or two.

Favourite item in your wardrobe right now?
My new Paul Costello white winter coat. It’s beautifully cut with a lovely frill at the top and I love it!

What’s in your handbag right now?
My wallet, filofax, three lipsticks, an eye shadow, hairbrush, my keys and one of the children’s socks.

Best high street store?
I don’t have a favourite really. I like Topshop for jeans, River Island and Oasis for sparkly t-shirts and French Connection for dresses.

Favourite place to shop?
Boston. Newbury Street has every shop you want. The taxes are less than in New York and its not as frantic. The outlets are only about 45 minutes out of the city and the people are friendly. I have long been an advocate of shopping in Boston.

Favourite online fashion sites?
I like InStyle magazine and shop style on the web, but I don’t really buy online I prefer to try things on and feel them first!

Worst fashion moment?
God I have had so many. During my two years on Xpose we had a lot of photo shoots and a lot of the time the stylists would pick out my clothes as with two babies at the time under two I didn’t have time to shop. Anyway half the time the stuff looked dreadful on me but I wouldn’t have had much choice!

Who epitomises great style?
I think Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon always looks great as Prada and Burberry are always throwing their new season looks at them. It’s definitely easier to be stylish when you are wealthy.

What era of style would you most like see return to fashion?
I love 50’s dresses!

Catch Sybil weekdays on TV3′s The Morning Show.
