That’s right, it’s time to dust off those crimpers because along with all the different kinds of relaxed, textured braiding that are going on this spring, the iconic 80s style is back! Seen on the runways at Mercedes Benz fashion week 2011, crimped hair was teamed with floaty fabrics and soft, glowing make-up, looking more modern and romantic rather than Bananarama-tastic.

How to: Style sections of hair rather than going for an all over uniformity, a mini crimpers like the Corioliss ones available on ASOS will do the job perfectly. Alternatively, plait hair when wet, allowing to dry naturally (it worked when we were kids so will work now). Team with soft fabrics and iridescent, girly make-up for a feminine look or dark punky eyes & lashings of mascara for a more night time effect.

A great alternative to black is classic navy which creates a super-stylist look. Rachel Bilson was spotted this week at the Salvadore Ferragamo Milan Fashion Week show, bringing a touch of elegance to proceedings in an uber-chic navy blue satin gown, with black net panels. The highstreet’s currently awash with great navy items. Here are a couple of my favourites.
