I must admit it’s taken me sometime to warm to Christine Bleakley, presenter of BBC’s The One Show. Over the past couple of months I’ve come to really like the Northern Irish beauty for her genuine presence on the small screen but there’s always been one thing I’ve loved about her – her glowing, healthy looking skin!
Turns out she’s had some help in that department and her perfect glow is thanks to the He-Shi’s range of tanning products. He-Shi’s products are perfect for Irish skin tones, and are easy to apply and can be used to build up varying levels of colour, from a natural golden shade to a darker tan option for more sallow complexions like Christine’s. Ray-Ban’s appeared on many of the looks at last night’s Harvey Nichols spring summer fashion show in Dundrum Town Centre (Philip Lim and Sonia Rykiel were two of my favourites but more on that later). It’s great to see Spring has finally arrived and it’s that time of year to start thinking about updating your sunnies.
The brand new range of Ray-Ban’s, entitled ‘Rare Prints’, is a colorful collection for 2010. It includes two limited edition style prints called the ‘Subway’ and ‘Flowers & Stripes’ both of which are available in the timeless Clubmaster and Wayfarer frames. I love the injection of fun and colour these will add to any spring summer look!
Both styles are currently available online at Claim The Frame at great discounted prices.
As much as a picture speaks a thousand words, your handbag says more about your personality than any other single item of clothing you’ll wear. So finding that special bag, the one that’ll become your ‘go-to’ bag season after season can be a tough task.
When I laid eyes on the scrumptiously stylish Louloubelle bag collection, recently launched by accessory designer Louise O’Leary, I knew they were going to make many a bag-lover very happy. Not too many mind you – each bag is one of just a hundred limited edition pieces individually identifiable by it’s production number. Read the rest of this entry »
Paris may be considered the city of love but, romance aside, it can be paradise for shoppers too. I was lucky enough to live and work in the city. When friends flew over to visit, they inevitably wanted to gather up some Parisian chic and bring it back to show off at home. I developed a little treasure-trail of fashion fancies and cute bijoux boutiques which never failed to please. Here’s my tried-and-tested guide to shopping (to keep Irish visitors happy!) in Paris.
If you’ve any suggestions for shopping, food or whatever please let us know and we’ll add it.
The Marais
The vibrantly-gay Marais area of Paris naturally features numerous upscale boutiques but avoid the neon stores and go for old-world charm instead and you’re in for a treat. Maverick retailers stock quality vintage-wear and bespoke jewellery galore. Get lost and find a bargain! Scoff some falafel if you get peckish – it’s also the Jewish quarter.
DOM Christian Koban (21 Rue Sainte Croix la Bretonnerie)
What is probably best described as a more edgy Urban Outfitters, DOM sell everything from rubber raincoats to uber-funky furniture. They stock a range of clothes and jewellery and tend to have a small but adorable selection of both men’s and women’s-wear with really great price tags. Last time I was there, I left with 2 pairs of jeans, a scarf and a jumper with change from €100. Read the rest of this entry »
A regular on Off The Rails and Xpose, one of Ireland’s most talented and in-demand stylists, it’s the gorgeous red head that is Angela Scanlon. Also a fashion journalist, she writes for the Irish Independent and this month sees the launch of her brand new “Walking Wardrobe” feature in Irish Tatler. We sat down with her to pick her brains on all things style…
What five words best describe your style?
Casual, boyish, loose, tight, comfort.
Best style tip?
Give yourself something that becomes a signature. Maybe always wear a scarf or a slick of black eyeliner. Something that is recognisable and identifiable with you.
Few people can list fashion designer, model, actress and TV presenter on their CV but Virginia Macari is a truly versatile vixen. Fans of Podge & Rodge will know and love her for her new role as co-host with the boys on RTE 2’s Stick-it Inn. We caught up with her to talk fashion.
What five words best describe your style?
Feminine, Strong, Extravagant, high-heels, Fun.
Best style tip?
I don’t believe clothes have to be comfortable to look good. I’ve worn fabulous dresses I couldn’t even sit in. If I love something and know it looks good on me, I’m more than happy to suffer for it. My tip for that is to just rock it with confidence.
Whether it’s Tom Cruise sporting Ray Ban Aviator’s in Top Gun or Audrey Hepburn and her Wayfarers in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the right glasses are at the heart of classic looks over decades of fashion.
These days it’s the likes of Johnny Depp and Kanye West with their geek-chic glasses that are catching our eye! Whatever your style, we’re giving YOU the chance to WIN a €150 voucher to spend on a brand spanking new pair of specs from new online Irish eye-wear emporium Claimtheframe.com.
Anyone who’s been there will know what I mean when I say I can’t think of anything worse than the feeling you experience when you drop, and subsequently step on, your favourite pair of glasses.
That’s exactly what I did a couple of months back when I broke my beloved frames clean in two. I even attempted a DIY glue job (I’d had them over 5 years) but it wasn’t to be.
Some interesting facts about our online shopping habits, I’m not surprised at all to be honest but thought I’d share the love. Check out Mr eBay himself, the lovely James O’Neil !
