Over 20,000 shoppers enjoyed the 2nd Shop & Rock event at Dundrum Town Centre last Thursday where they were entertained by X Factor singer Melanie McCabe, 1940’s swing Sensation The Bugle Babes, the ever popular Late Late Show’s in-house band The Camembert Quartet and enjoyed a glass of West Coast Cooler Citra at the West Coast Cooler Bubbly Bar. Irish label Laundry Room has released it’s latest collection just in time for party season. Since it’s debut range only a few short years ago Laundry Room, which is designed in Ireland, has become a roaring success of Irish fashion. Why? Well simply put they make clothes that are sophisticated, chic and VERY affordable. Not to mention the almost vintage look which is so now.

The latest offering includes gorgeous dresses (including the strapless red and black dress, €59, below), a trench coat with leather detailing and the life-saver of dresses, a fabulous LBD. The Tommy Hilfiger store in Dundrum officially reopened its doors after a fresh restyle, now fully embodying the classic American cool atmosphere the Tommy Hilfiger brand is renowned for. The Dundrum store offers the full Men’s, Women’s, Hilfiger Denim, Tailored, Accessories and Footwear collections for AW 2011. Guests including models Jude Nabney and Craig Healy enjoyed Tommy Hilfiger emblazoned cupcakes and glasses of champagne while DJ Will Kinsella spun cool classics on the decks to celebrate the new look store. Over 400 of Dublin’s VIPs and fashionistas alongside media, celebrities, industry and sporting stars descended on the fashion emporium to catch a glimpse of this seasons key looks. The focus was very much on the beautiful collections, edgy styling and dramatic hair, taking inspiration from the Alexander McQueen Autumn Winter 2011 show. The Smurfs make their first 3D trip to the big screen in a hybrid live-action and animated family comedy. When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the Smurfs out of their village, they’re forced through a portal, out of their world and into ours, landing in the middle of New York’s Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to raise vital funds for Nestle Ireland’s charity of the year; The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation. The Foundation provides nationwide home nursing care and support for children with brain damage who suffer severe intellectual and physical trauma, as well as offering essential respite and support to their parents and families.

Holler for a hottie!….The Hollister surf dudes are getting ready to welcome all the ‘Dudes’ & ‘Bettys‘ to the brand new Hollister store which opens in Dundrum Town Centre tomorrow, Friday 15th July at 9am. This is the first Hollister store to open in the Republic of Ireland and is located on level two (opposite Dune).

Fashionistas and surfers alike have been in countdown mode for the arrival of this iconic brand. Dudes (guys) and Bettys (girls) will be lining up to get the laid back Hollister Cali look….perfect for the balmy summer weather we’ve been enjoying. Fingers crossed it lasts!

A stylish penthouse loft set the scene for the show where guests were treated to an exclusive runway featuring many covetable new labels and exclusives. A glamorous Jackie Lavin arrived with husband Bill Cullen. Others seated in the front row included Annette Rocca, Louise Loughman, Lorraine Keane, Sybil Mulcahy, Annmarie O’ Connor, Elaine Toolan Bennet, Eve Maguire and Nadine Wai O’ Flynn.

If you’re wondering what exactly to do with the kids this weekend to keep them entertained, fear not, as Nestlé have Ireland launched the Spooky Smarties Swamp at Dundrum Town Centre. The Mill Pond has been dramatically transformed into a menacing eerie Halloween swamp from the 25th October – 31st October.

Living beneath the hazy fog is a host of mechanical smartie monsters which will be prowling the pond for the week. The Smarties Swamp will be awash with complimentary spooky entertainment for all the family including ghoulish storytelling, witches and ghosts, haunting music, Halloween mask making and trick or treat face painting. Special ‘trick or treat’ face painters will also be on hand to transform children’s faces into goblins, witches, ghosts, skeletons and many more spooky creatures. If parents wish to make a €3 donation for face painting this will go directly to The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation charity.

Dundrum’s Shop and Rock promises to be a fantastic shopping experience as the centre will come alive after normal trading hours to offer invited guests exclusive discounts and offers in every store in Dundrum Town Centre. There will be fabulous fashion discounts and lots of fun (!!) on every level and the ‘Rock’ element will see Irish Band The Shoos rocking out in the Centre.

Celebrity Tailor, Louis Copeland and Jameson Reserves hosted a VIP customer evening in the Gant store, Dundrum Town Centre last night. The Gant store, which opened last month, previewed the Autumn/Winter collections from the Americian-based clothing firm credited with having invented preppy style in the 60’s.

Guests enjoyed Thai finger food whilst being guided through the characteristics of Premium Jameson Irish Whiskey and a Jameson Reserves whiskey tasting by Jameson Distiller Liam Donegan. Musician and composer Drazen Derek entertained guests on the night with an acoustic guitar set.

Guests enjoying the night included Sean Munsanje, Steve K from Radio Station Spin 103.8 as well as George Clooney lookalike Jereny Kenny and Mr World Kamal Ibrahim and Model Ruth Melody.

Vogue finally gave Ireland its stamp of approval last week with Dublin joining the ranks of Paris, Milan and New York, getting it’s very own Fashion Night Out in Dundrum. Harvey Nichols hosted the Dublin branch of the International event, which runs in 16 different countries. Anna Wintour (American Vogue editor) created Fashion Night Out last year in order to inject some fun back into shopping.

There was plenty to celebrate on the night as Harvey Nic’s also hosting their autumn/winter fashion show on the night as well as their fifth birthday celebrations. A string of our style stars stepped out to enjoy the occasion, including fashion man Brendan Courtney, model agent Celia Holman Lee, and former Xpose star Lorraine Keane.

The show was a blaze of colour set against a colourful installation created by rock star-turned artist Helen Steele and graffiti art by Maser. Guests had the opportunity to see a number of signature creations specially flown in for the occasion from top designers including a stunning sheer navy dress with feathered hem, modelled by top Irish model Laragh McCann, by fashion’s hottest new arrival Hakaan Ildirim from Turkey.

Other stylish guests spotted taking in the show include Dirty Epics singer SJ Wai O’Flynn, Louise Loughman and Sarah Jane Maguire.
