I love bringing news of yet ANOTHER Irish success story of creative people with lots of get-up-and-go in them! This time we go to Cork where two best buds (Tina and Hazel) hatched a fashion plan.

Having both spent time working abroad in completely different fields they were fed up going out in Cork on a Saturday looking like everyone else. To cut a long story short – this resulted in Amity being born – a vintage inspired clothing store for gals who love getting dressed up and looking fab.

Located on French Church Street in Cork’s fashionable Huguenot district, Amity sells affordable independent designer women’s fashion. They recently launched their online store www.myamity.ie with free delivery all over Ireland (and importantly offer full refunds if the customer is not happy with their purchase).

They stock over 30 independent designers from all over the world, the majority of which are exclusive to Amity in Cork. They sell everything from retro style t-shirts, handmade vintage inspired jewellery, shoes and accessories, handmade retro style lampshades to a dress for a wedding and even bridesmaid dresses.

Lulu designed her first handbag in 1989 – a patent briefcase with clear pockets and bright suede lining – and since has gone on to create her world famous handbags and accessories. Her unmistakable personal style and originality quickly attracted the likes of Madonna and Jerry Hall, who are among her earliest fans.

Her clever designs of retro glamour and modern chic continue to attract an ever-expanding list of celebrities, including Dita von Teese, Helena Bonham Carter, Jemima Khan, Sophie Dahl, Rachel Weisz, Keira Knightley, Claudia Schiffer and Debra Messing.

Irish fans will get a chance to meet Lulu on Wednesday 4th November between 1-3pm in the Accessories Hall of Brown Thomas Dublin where she’ll be showcasing her new collections.
