As womenswear returns to full on 70′s inspired glamour, menswear is also getting nostalgic. That’s if the D&G Mens autumn winter 2011 collection is anything to go by. This latest collection, from one of my favourite labels, included lots of playful outfits which will brighten up the gloomiest of days. D&G revisits classic logos from the early days of iconic brands Coca-Cola and Disney’s Mickey Mouse, giving the line a real retro feel.

Sometimes what we see on the catwalks doesn’t quite translate well to every day mortals such as you or I. These colorfully layered looks really work with the logos and I’ve no doubt however that this collection will make a very smooth transition from catwalk to highstreet.

Harvey Nichols Dundrum presented their spring summer offerings with a fabulous concept fashion show styled and produced by Paula Hughes on Thursday last.

The scene was set when invited guests were ushered, champagne in hand, to a warehouse-style venue hidden in the basement of the store. Ultra-violet lighting, a paint splattered run-way and Auguste-faced clowns (aptly named Hilarious Hank!) provided the setting for a multicoloured circus concept show. Designs by Sonia Rykiel, D&G, Vivienne Westwood, See by Chloe, and Alexander Mc Queen strutted down the catwalk. My favourites came in the form of Amanda Wakeley, Philip Lim and the queen of digital prints Mary Katrantzou.

Kudos to the team at Harvey Nic’s who didn’t ignore the men in the audience and presented some pretty slick menswear looks from Diesel, Dsquared2, D&G and the super cool ‘Elvis Jesus emerald Miami Vice’ t-shirt exclusive to Harvey Nichols.

More images after the cut

Putting aside the latest trend of wearing underwear as outerwear (yes, corsets, bra-tops, thigh-highs and the like, worn as outerwear have appeared all over the catwalks of Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier & Dior etc) the importance of wearing the correct size bra should never be under-estimated.

A great fitting bra will not only make your clothes sit properly but it can also help emphasise your waistline, giving more definition to your body shape and It will improve posture… not to mention how much more comfortable you’ll feel.

So I ask you, when was the last time you had a bra fitting? As most of us are only too familiar with, our shape and size change frequently so it’s recommended that women have a bra fitting every six months!

Right now, there’s never been a better time to get fitted. From Thursday 14th Jan until Thursday 28th Jan, you can take advantage of the free bra fitting service in store at your local M&S. Not only will expert advisors help you find a perfect fit, but they’ll also give you a €7.50 voucher off any lingerie purchases over €47.50!

Whats more, having a larger bust needn’t mean compromising on style as M&S now stock bra collections up to a GG cup!

Anyone who’s been there will know what I mean when I say I can’t think of anything worse than the feeling you experience when you drop, and subsequently step on, your favourite pair of glasses.

That’s exactly what I did a couple of months back when I broke my beloved frames clean in two. I even attempted a DIY glue job (I’d had them over 5 years) but it wasn’t to be.

Trawling the highstreet for a suitable replacement pair, I couldn’t find anything I liked with a semi-reasonable price tag. Luckily for me, I’d a trip planned to New York shortly afterwards and I happened upon the most amazing little offbeat optician’s in Greenwich Village (run by the most adorable Lithuanian couple). There I found a pair of clear-framed Alain Mikli glasses which I instantly fell in love with!

Why am I telling you this?

Well I’m happy to report the tide is turning on the eyewear front.
‘Claim the Frame’ is Ireland’s first Irish-owned online eyewear emporium bringing a range of fashionable specs, sunglasses and contact lenses all at cut prices…so you can frame your face with fabulous frames for less.

The site stocks a wide range of designer labels including Guess, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, and Robert Cavalli as well as their own range of in-house frames. You can even pick up a pair of classic Ray Ban Aviators from as low as €124, and Wayfarers for just €105.

The site also includes a simple guide on choosing glasses to suit your face shape but if you’re not convinced when they arrive, they offer a ten day full refund money back guarantee. What’s not to love!

* Keep an eye out over the coming weeks as we’ll be giving you the chance to win some cool glasses from ‘Claim The Frame’.

Yesterday while I was in studio reporting with Gerry Ryan we had the pleasure of being joined by JLS of the X Factor.

The guys had literally just touched down in Dublin airport (tickets for their O2 concert went on sale yesterday) and their first port of call was the G Ryan Show.

Style-wise the guys were looking well so afterwards I had a quick chat with them about their style.

I noticed JB was wearing some really nice disc studded black & gold Marc by Marc Jacobs earrings. Generally I’m not a fan of earrings on guys but they suited his style and looked really well. According to him they’re his favourite pair! He was suitably impressed I was wearing yellow, seemingly it’s his favourite colour!

Marvin meanwhile was looking super stylish wearing a really cool pair of black textured leather D&G boots with a side buckle closure and belt detailing. They really set off his outfit. He revealed he actually has two pairs of them – another pair in brown – at over €545, it’s well for some!

Before meeting JLS, I had very little interest in what they do but I have to say they are a really genuine, nice bunch of lads and talented singers who sang live in studio. I wish them the best of luck and if the success of their first single ‘Beat Again’ is anything to go by, they won’t be needing it! Here it is for your viewing pleasure, their number one hit single.

Slim fitting tailoring, thin lapels (and in some cases no lapels) and elongated jackets are just some of the looks featuring prominently on the catwalks of Paris and Milan for AW09. Alexis Mabille, Kilgour and Versace, to name just a few, following this trend.

Slightly nipped in waist and the wider shoulder added a touch of drama and a dose of masculinity to the shape. And the three piece again emerged strongly. The military shape is once again a driving force on the catwalks with many designers drawing inspiration for tailored coats from World War 2 naval officer style overcoats. D&G used a Musketeer style patterned detailing and no doubt the high street will be quick to follow in their footsteps with this design.
