TV presenter Jenny Buckley has hosted Channel 6’s Access Hollywood and surfing show Cois Farraige.Recently she continued on the traveling front as a guest reporter on RTE’s No Frontiers. A trained actor from the Gaiety School of Acting she has become one of Ireland’s foremost VO artists (listen out the next time you’re at the self-service checkout in Superquinn!). At the recent TV Now Awards she turned heads in a stunning outfit. We caught up with the chic Howth lady to get the skinny on her style…

Describe your style in five words?
Eclectic , elegant, messy,modern and smart

What’s your beauty essential?
Black Mascara from kohl (brown sugar) and carmex for my lips.

What item could you not live without?
Kohl pro palette concealer. It’s the best product to get rid of dark circles, It helps me look normal on a Monday morning.

Worst fashion moment?
When I was 19 my mother bought me a leather jacket and skirt, she told me that she had bought them in Paris on a shopping trip but this was all a lie. She had actually purchased the pleather outfit in Penneys… I wore that skirt and jacket every weekend for about 2 months!!! I thought I was gorgeous, to add to the mortification I also had hair that resembled a corkscrew perm, oh the state of me. I look back now and laugh, the funny thing is Penneys is now one of my favourite shops but when I was a teenager I wouldn’t have been caught dead inside the door.

If you’re house was on fire and you’d only time to save one thing, what would it be?
My Gucci handbag my husband bought me last Christmas as its one of the only designer labels that I possess!!!

Most desired fashion item?
The white v neck jersey dress from Halston Heritage. The label is all about effortless glamour, with clean, simple streamline fashion. Since becoming creative officer, Sarah Jessica Parker has managed to endorse the brand in Sex and the City 2, creating a massive resurgence for this iconic 70’s label.

Best style tip?
Wear what suits your shape and not what you think is fashion forward. And if you are to spend money on one item then let it be shoes as good shoes always maketh the outfit.

What’s in your handbag right now?
My credit card, iphone, hairbrush, carmex, bronzing brush …without the bronzer. A thank you card that I have to post today!

Who is you style-crush?
Charlize Theron for her understated glamour, she always wears clean lines and epitomises style and elegance. She’s gorgeous.

Worst shopping experience?
My worst shopping experience was buying a pair of MC Hammer trousers last year. I looked like I was wearing a nappy, not one of my best looks.

Best high street store?
Penney’s. I never leave empty handed and the same applies to my wallet.

Favourite place to shop?
One of my favourite places to shop is Covet, it’s like opening a treasure chest full of the most incredible designer and vintage dresses…. the wonderful thing about this shop is that you can just rent your favourite dress and return it a few days later for a fraction of the price it would cost to buy. Also I love to support Irish boutiques (although at the moment it’s just during the sales) Costume and Smock carry some beautiful labels .

Fashion on the web?
I love Net- a-porter as they have all the up to date styles from the runway. It’s great for getting ideas and trying to replicate them in the high street. Asos is definitely the more affordable site for me, I’ve bought some great summer dresses that have been very reasonably priced, sometimes cheaper online than in the store which is always a bonus.

What era of style would you most like see return to fashion?
I love 1950’s style – makeup like Dita Von Teese, Audrey Hepburns classic black dress and Grace Kelly’s tailored suits, perfection!

Finally, what do you want your style to say about you?
Comfortable and understated during the day but I always go for a hint of elegance at night.
