Wicklow native, Laura Whitmore’s lifelong dream came true when she won Pick Me MTV for a presenting job on the music channel. Since then she hasn’t looked back and has gone from strength to strength, impressing us with her easy going, sassy style all the way. We spoke to Laura to find out how she manages to look so damn good…
Describe your style in five words?
I wear what I like
What’s your beauty essential?
I have really long eyelashes but they are very blonde, therefore, I can’t live without my mascara, I bring it everywhere!!
What item could you not live without?
My Mac laptop – I love it!
If your house was on fire and you’d only time to save one thing, what would it be?
My lucky leather jacket – it hasn’t let me down yet. I wore it throughout the MTV ‘Pick Me’ competition and I know it’s always going to have a place in my wardrobe and suitcase!
Most desired fashion item?
Christian Louboutin’s – every woman should own a pair!
Top style tip?
Wear clothes that suit your body shape. There is no point trying to follow trends if they are just not going to work for you. It’s best to wear what you feel comfortable in.
What’s in your handbag right now?
My mobile phone, filofax, make-up bag and passport
Who is you style-crush?
Olsen Twins, Daisy Lowe and Blonde
Worst and/or best shopping experience?
My worst is always when I need to find something specific and none of the shops have what I am looking for!
Best – When I was in Boston I bought this vintage black lace dress for about $40, I’ve worn it to lots of big events and it’s always admired!
Best high street store?
Topshop & Awear
Favourite place to shop?
Beyond Retro
Fashion on the web?
Asos.com, Net-a-porter.com and My-wardrobe.com – sometimes I don’t have a lot of time to go to the shops to buy new outfits for upcoming events etc so it’s much easier for me to shop online while I am travelling or have a break from filming.
Worst fashion moment?
My friends threw an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed party for my birthday. They brought clothes for me to dress up as Alice.. Unfortunately the dress kept ripping and was falling apart and by the end of the night I had to pop lots of pins in it to stop it falling off! Nightmare – all in good fun!
French skincare brand RoC have chosen you as the face of their new HYDRA+ range – who is the range aimed at?
It’s aimed at busy girls on the go, who just like me have to juggle work, socializing and looking good and this means life can be very stressful! A busy woman’s lifestyle can unfortunately have an impact on her skin condition no matter how good it is, leaving it feeling and looking dull & dried out. RoC’s new HYDRA+ range offers long lasting hydration for women on the go, giving youconfidence to look and feel good while keeping up with a busy schedule!
What era of style would you most like see return to fashion?
Definitely the 50’s
Finally, what do you want your style to say about you?
I want it to be true to my personality, who I am but I also want to look comfortable.
