Assets model Suzanne McCabe made a splash last year when she became the only Irish face of PETA’s Anti Fur campaign (something we here at HelpMyStyle.ie are very passionate about!). Much more than a pretty face Suzanne studied at the Michael Smurfit Business School and now adds business owner to her CV having launched her online jewellery> and accessory business www.blingbling.ie.

Describe your style in five words?
Anything but fur is game.

What’s your beauty essential?
Being happy. When you are feeling good in yourself it shows. You radiate an inner glow that no amount of products or clothing can emulate.

What item could you not live without?
My iphone, it’s like an extension of my arm- I’m always on it!

If your house was on fire and you’d only time to save one thing, what would it be?
Providing boyfriend, cats and dogs weren’t in the house at the time, it’d have to be my laptop. It’s crucial for my work.

Most desired fashion item at the moment?
Believe it or not, my most desired item is not for myself, it’s for my yorkies. I’ve been trying desperately to find some sort of trendy warm coats for the winter to keep them happy on their walks. All I can find is granny/ tartan ones! Even a pair of dog boots to keep their feet warm in the snow! They look at me as if to say ‘what the hell are you playin’ at?’ when I bring them out in it.

Best style tip?
Less is more. Less make up, less tan, less hair extensions. This doesn’t apply to clothing though! You want to look stylish and effortless. And obviously, don’t let your vanity be the cost of an animal’s brutal murder. NO fur.

What’s in your handbag right now?
Motherpucker lip gloss, Vaseline, hand cream, mints, keys, wallet, business cards and a nutri-grain bar. I emptied out the dodgy stuff before answering this.

Who is your style-crush?
Lynn Kelly – model and stylist. Lynn wears outfits the rest of us would never dream of putting together. Not only that but she makes them look amazing! I’ve tried to copy her style in the past but have failed miserably. She has a great career ahead of her as a stylist- it comes naturally to her. And did I mention- she’s 100% anti-fur too!

Worst and/or best shopping experience?
I don’t think there’s such thing as a bad shopping experience? You’re shopping aren’t you?! Unless you forgot your wallet…or you’re shopping for someone else ;-)

Best shopping experience is sales time in New York. Sweaty fit…your heart is beating in your ears, you’re so excited you are shaking and your eyes are darting all over the place from bargain to bargain, everything else is a blur. Your back is aching from all the bags, your credit card is aching even more, your legs are shaky and you could really do with a sandwich stop but couldn’t afford to risk someone else buying those shoes/ bag/ clothes… I am my boyfriend’s worst night mare at sale time.

Best high street store or boutique?
I LOVE Lara Boutique for evening dresses. I cannot leave the shop empty handed. You will always find something that makes you look fabulous!

Favourite place to shop?
Bar New York, probably from the comfort of my own couch with the TV on and a glass of wine. You cannot beat online shopping and waking up in the morning to a ‘present’ at the door!

What is your travel essential?
Anti bacterial hand wipes, and xanax if I’m flying!

Fashion on the web?
www.blingbling.ie crystal jewellery and accessories website. It’s full of gorgeous girly products, great offers, colour, sparkles, it’s easy to use and excellent service. I love it, you will too ;-)

Worst fashion moment?
The whole of the 90s was a bit of a fashion crisis for me. I was a fully fledged rocker; combats, Doc Martins, Denis the Menace jumpers, Korn t-shirts, purple hair, 10 piercings, the works. I was a guitarist in a heavy metal band. Says it all really!

What era of style would you most like see return to fashion?
I never have much interest in witnessing old style eras returning to fashion. Rather, what I would love to see is the coming of the day when we cut off all ties to our Neanderthal and prehistoric past, embrace our intelligence, talents and technologies and create clothing that does not depend on the suffering and slaughter of our co-inhabitors on this planet-our animals. That’ll be the day when we experience true talent and style.

Finally, what do you want your style to say about you?
I really don’t know-you’d have to ask it!
