A good primer can really make all the difference to creating the perfect base for your make-up but with so many to choose from it can be tough to decide whether to invest or just go for whatever suits your budget at the time. Recently I went on the hunt to find 3 that were all in very different price brackets and here’s what I found…
Laura Mercier: The absolute undisputed king of primers, the soft gel formula is packed full of aloe vera which soothes skin and leaves it feeling fresh and ready for a day out. Make-up glides on and stays put for hours on end and you can wave bye bye to any oiliness or patchiness from dehydrated surface cells. All that loveliness will cost you a pretty penny though – Laura Mercier’s primer is a whopping €41 for a tube.
L’Oreal Studio Secrets: Labeled as a “magic, perfecting base” this primer has taken the beauty world by storm and sold out in Ireland almost immediately when it was launched. It’s back in Boots now though and is available for €19.95. You don’t get very much in the jar, but it can be applied to problem areas such as enlarge pores or an oily t-zone if you want it to last longer. The result is very good indeed and will see your make-up stay in place through out the day without touch ups.?
Primark Prime of Your Life: You have to love Penney’s, they really are quite extraordinary in their ability to bring the masses what they want at low low prices. Prime of your Life wouldn’t look out of place on a Benefit counter but brace yourself… it costs €3.50. Unbelievable! The texture is quite thick so use in small amounts and there’s a pink undertone to it so if you’re prone to redness, best steer clear. At such a low price though, it’s worth a shot!
