Samsung Ireland have launched the Galaxy Xcover, a new touchscreen smartphone with rugged good looks all encased in a waterproof body – handy if you tend to be a bit rough and ready with your phone or have a history of dropping them in the loo.
Engineered with materials designed to protect it from wear and tear, the Galaxy Xcover uses ‘gorilla glass’ rendering it waterproof to a depth of one meter (for up to 30 minutes) and still manages to retain a slim and stylish body. It uses the Gingerbread AndroidTM 2.3 platform. Designed to protect, it also sports a strong anti-scratch screen made from tempered glass which is four to five times tougher than regular glass.
Rugby player Mike Ross, who also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology, was drafted in to put the phone through its paces. Having road tested it, he says “it is the most robust smartphone on the market; it gives me access to all the content I need from my smartphone but can withstand the demands of a tough, active lifestyle”.
- Ultra-connectivity is enabled by HSDPA 7.2/ HSUPA 5.76, Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth v3.0+ HS, ensuring that users are constantly connected to the people that matter to them.
- 3MP auto-focus camera with LED flash.
- Dust & Water Resistant
- Torch Light function & Scratch Window Resistant
- Strong airtight chassis
- ‘Gorilla glass’ makes it resistant to water damage
The Samsung Galaxy Xcover is available from eMobile, Meteor and 3 from free on bill pay.
