Last Saturday a friend asked me to go shopping to help him find a new tuxedo for an upcoming black-tie Christmas party. Obviously he wanted to look the business but he didn’t particularly fancy spending a small fortune on something he’s only going to wear max two possibly three times a year.
Having seen male supermodel David Gandy looking rather swish in the new adverts for M&S menswear, I was interested to check out their latest suiting range. Not only because he’s in the ads but because they appeared very slick and well-made, so I wanted to see if the reality was so complimentary.
So we went along to their Grafton Street store. 30 minutes later my friend left with not only a new tuxedo but also a brand new suit. I was delighted to find a range of contemporary cut suiting with a great fit and variety of styles. My friend managed to bag a tux that was the perfect fit for him and needed no alterations. While he was in the changing rooms I spied a delicious deep navy suit…that he also bought! I must admit I was slightly jealous as I had eyed it for myself!

Make A Statement
By keeping your outfit simple. This season’s polo neck knits are the perfect way to show off statement accessories like hats whilst remaining warm, cosy and on trend.

Layers Look Great
Practically speaking, not only will a cashmere cardigan keep you warm on winter nights but it will also soften a smart suit giving a visual impression of a relaxed three-piece, taking you seamlessly from office to bar.

Play Around With Your Look
The chances are that you’ll have more black tie events than you have tuxedos this party season – the key is to vary your look. Opt for this season’s polo neck for a sophisticated evening, whilst a plain skinny black tie and slim fitting dress shirt creates a sharp look that’s ready to party.
