Some great news for chicken lovers in Munster – Nando’s Peri-Peri flame-grilled chicken has now landed in Cork. Only their fifth restaurant on the island of Ireland, the new store comes with the creation of 28 jobs for the area. Located at Mahon Point, the eatery provides seating for 120 diners with impressive design features including stunning custom-made lighting and original African artwork.
As Nando’s fans will know the chickens (always fresh, never frozen) are marinated for 24 hours, but diners get to select their own degree of heat from a range of bastes that are brushed on at just the right moment over an open-flame grill.
Grilling the chicken over open flames radically reduces its fat content – good news for anyone sticking to their New Year’s resolutions. The Irish rugby team including Brian O’ Driscoll, and this wife Amy Huberman, are regular visitors to the Dundrum restaurant. What’s more, Nando’s PERi-PERi baste has no artificial additives or preservatives and is loaded in vitamins A and C. PERi-PERi is also reputed to be a potent aphrodisiac making it hot stuff in more ways than one!
Nando’s currently has four restaurants throughout Ireland, including Nando’s Dundrum (Dundrum Town Centre), Nando’s Swords (The Pavilions), and Nando’s Belfast (Victoria Square Shopping Centre and Bedford Street). Nando’s will open additional restaurants over the coming years including two new outlets in Dublin City Centre this year. The new restaurant officially opens in Cork on Wednesday, 26th January.
