Former Miss Ireland Sarah Morrissey has gone on to forge a career as one of Ireland’s most successful, not to mention liked, top models. Featuring in all the major fashion shows each season, Sarah is highly respected both on and off the catwalk. With her down-to-earth personality, superb work ethic and of course stunning looks, Sarah has worked consistently since she started in the industry. We went to find out more…

How did you start modelling?
I still can’t believe sometimes that this is my job…I went in to Assets and they signed me straight away. Two days later I had my first casting for a John Rocha show and I got the job. It was very surreal.

Growing up what did you want to be?
I wanted to be a dancer. I always danced growing up, from tap to jazz so I always thought I’d end up doing something relating to the arts.

What’s a typical day for you like?
That’s probably my favourite thing about being a model, there is no typical day. You could have 10 castings or fittings or a show or shoot and your never in the same place as the day before.

Two words that describe your style?
Black, Simple.

Today I’m wearing…?
All saints leather jacket, white t-shirt, Roxy jeans and topshop boots..

Style icon?
Diane Kruger…such class and elegance.

Favourite trend this season?
I’m loving Obi Belts

Favourite beauty product?
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. I’m addicted.

I cant’ live without…?
My dog Charlie. He drives me nuts sometimes but ya gotta love him.

Where’s you favourite hangout?
Alife’s on South William Street & Hertford House Hotel Hertforshire.

What’s your Friday night treat?
Hanging out with my boyfriend and my dog.

Your perfect weekend is…?
A bottle of wine with friends, good food, great banter and having no work…

Last time you laughed out loud?
Watching “ONE NIGHT ONLY WITH IMELDA MAY”. Not only is she an unbelievable singer but probably the most charismatic person I have seen on tv in a long time. And THE HANGOVER really made me laugh out loud..

What are you listening to on your iPod?
I like a bit of everything from Neil Diamond and Billy Joel (I know, not cool, but brilliant songs) to Beyonce, Adele, Moby, The Script.

What advice would you give to anyone trying to break into modelling?
It’s not all glamour, it’s extremely hard work. You can go for weeks with out seeing friends and family and you never know where you gonna be but it’s such a great thing when you get to do something you enjoy. So work hard as it’s a short career.

If you could write your ideal job description what would it be?
Oh that’s such a hard question. “Desert Island seeks laid back caretaker to explore the land and discover new things. Wine and good food provided and NO PHONE ALLOWED :-)
