This is such a simple look yet it rates high on the drama scale. I love its timelessness. It can be worked for a big occasion or an important gathering with close friends, perfect for this time of year.

Start with the eyes, that way you are unlikely to rush and mess it up. Use a primer on the eyelid for a crease free hold. Try Laura Merciers “Eye Basics” in Cotton. Using a good-sized eyeshadow brush (Revlon do a good purse friendly range) and Shiseido’s fabulous new “Luminous Satin Eye Colour Trio”. Take the bright gold and pat it over the entire eyelid. Make sure you have an opaque finish to the lid, no half measures please!

Next take the green tone and work it from the outside of the eyelid about 1/3 of the way in. Lightly reload and sweep the whole way along the socket on both eyes. Next is eyeliner. The trick here is to mark in the flick first then perfect the line. Aim for as close to the lash as you can get. I have been using MAC’s “Penultimate Eyeliner” in Rapid Black. Corner lashes are a must. I love MAC’s, as the vein on the lash is super thin making for the most manageable application. Load on Max Factors “False Lash Effect” mascara. Sweep a little of the green eye colour under the lower lash line, keep it light. Now use Benefits “Eyebright” on the inside water line. It is a very pale pastel pink. It instantly brightens and brings the whole look together. Eyebrows complete this section. You just have to get the Givenchy Eyebrow pencil. It has the finish of powder with the precision of a pencil. I am totally in love with it.

The foundation should be a medium coverage with a natural finish. Try Dior Nude Skin foundation. It does exactly this. I dare you to not fall in love with it. There is no blush to this look, which makes it vital that you don’t skip the highlighting and contouring. For the highlight just take a slightly lighter foundation (I am sure there is one buried in a drawer somewhere) and pat it on to the top of the cheekbones. For the contour, take a slightly darker foundation and pat it in along the edge of the cheekbone.

The lips are the focus of the look, so take your time. Use “D’finer D’liner” by Benefit. It is invisible and helps to stop the lipstick bleeding. Next is the most important product for the look. A great red lipstick. The most decadent and cutting edge lipsticks to be launched in decades have to from Tom Ford (ooooohhhhhhh I hear you say). The man has the Midas touch. The shade to go for her is “Cherry Lush” a beautiful red that suits everyone.

Finish with a little sheen on the skin. I have been using Clairins Body Oil after the shower and my skin is like silk, the best it has ever been. I could not recommend it more. Et voila, a daring, striking make-up look bound to make a statement at any occasion.
