I got super excited this week when I saw The Kooples has landed in Brown Thomas. I’ve been a fan of the Kooples (and their kooky take on advertising using real life couples looking drop-dead gorgeous in their Kooples gear) since having initially discovered them one random day in Paris.
Best described as Savile Row meets Rock, this French label caters for both men and women, combining traditional tailoring with a modern, urban style. For me the look is what I imagine the love child of a chic Parisian and a Brit dandy to be.
A relatively new label, it was established in 2008 by three brothers – who are in fact the sons of the people behind classic French womenswear label Comptoir des Cotonniers.
Taking influence from both cities – the label has worked closely with London’s prestigious Savile Row tailors Norton & Sons and is defined by clean cut, slim fitting staples such as sharp suits, jackets, waistcoats, coats and shirts, all carefully designed for men and women. The price point is the higher end of high street…but it’s well worth it for the quality cut and detailing alone.
Now we don’t have to travel to get in on some Kooples action as both menswear & womenswear collections are now available Brown Thomas Dublin and Cork.
PS Pete Doherty is a big fan and said to be working on a collaboration with the Kooples boys due for release late this year.
