The Galway Races, perhaps the biggest race meeting of the summer, are just around the corner. There’s still time to put the perfect finishing touches to your look. Stick to these three simple pointers and your guaranteed to stand out for all the right reasons. Erin O’ Connor, Joan Collins and Colleen Rooney demonstrate how it should be done above…
1. Comfort Is Essential
Look comfortable in what you’re wearing and stick to cuts and colours that you know work for you and your confidence will shine through. Attention to trends is fine but be true to yourself and inject some of your individuality into your look. It’s not about how much you spend; it’s how you work what you’ve got. Many recent winners have been wearing outfits largely made up of items from highstreet stores such as Penney’s. Don’t be afraid of colour, it is summer after all. Wedges are always a good footwear option – remember you’ll be walking on grass!
2. Work Your Look
Accessories are so important and will make an outfit. That’s not to say go overboard. Key accessories are vital. If in doubt take off the last piece you put on. Don’t wear a hat just because it’s the races. Head bands, fascinators and flowers look great too. An umbrella funnily enough can also really lift a look and may come in very handy.
3. Don’t Fake It
Don’t over do it with makeup. Bear in mind that make-up is an accessory too. Let your natural beauty show. If you must wear tan, make sure it’s a product you know works for you and please, please, please don’t go too dark if you’re naturally quite fair. Personally I’d recommend ditch the tan and embrace the pale!
