Who said pink was just for girls? This season the boys also get a chance to enjoy the mouth-watering sorbet colours gracing catwalks.
The spring summer collection from Hackett London evokes escape to sand-swept terrains and summer in all its glory. Natural fabrics play a key role in the collection with garment dyed linens and cottons printed with floral patterns and motifs. The cut is also more streamlined, without being skinny, harking back to 1950’s style.
Hackett have taken key sartorial elements from vintage sports and reinvented them with twists of modern luxury – the result is a collection that is masculine while being fun at the same time, proving the adage that ‘fashion fades, style remains’.

Pastels are one of the big trends in colour this year with delicious ice-cream shades on all kinds of fabric featuring heavily on spring summer catwalks including Burberry, Christopher Kane, Chanel and Marc Jacobs to name just a few.
GANT has gotten in on the pastel action and has drawn inspiration from Italy & the zestful Italian way of life. The result is a collection of modern casual wear with a European flare, reminiscent of the effortless glamour of an Italian ‘60’s movies – think the narrow streets of romantic Rome to the breathtakingly beautiful scenery of the Amalfi Coast.
‘Sporty elegance’ is the essence of the ‘New Nautical’ range which I must admit I’m quite drawn to for summer.

Probably best known for her role in RTE mockumentary Dan & Becs, actress and journalist Holly White gained her foundation in Trinity College before embarking on a Fashion Journalism degree in London. Since then she has worked for the illustrious Vogue and Tatler while contributing to the fashion pages of the Irish Independent Weekend magazine and Irish Times as both as stylist and journalist. Voted one of Ireland’s ‘most stylish women’ by Image magazine, we sat down with the multi-talented Killiney lady to discuss her style.
What five words best describe your style?
Casual-Smart, indie, pretty, classic and luxe!
Favourite item in your wardrobe right now?

Paris may be considered the city of love but, romance aside, it can be paradise for shoppers too. I was lucky enough to live and work in the city. When friends flew over to visit, they inevitably wanted to gather up some Parisian chic and bring it back to show off at home. I developed a little treasure-trail of fashion fancies and cute bijoux boutiques which never failed to please. Here’s my tried-and-tested guide to shopping (to keep Irish visitors happy!) in Paris.
If you’ve any suggestions for shopping, food or whatever please let us know and we’ll add it.
The Marais
The vibrantly-gay Marais area of Paris naturally features numerous upscale boutiques but avoid the neon stores and go for old-world charm instead and you’re in for a treat. Maverick retailers stock quality vintage-wear and bespoke jewellery galore. Get lost and find a bargain! Scoff some falafel if you get peckish – it’s also the Jewish quarter.
DOM Christian Koban (21 Rue Sainte Croix la Bretonnerie)
What is probably best described as a more edgy Urban Outfitters, DOM sell everything from rubber raincoats to uber-funky furniture. They stock a range of clothes and jewellery and tend to have a small but adorable selection of both men’s and women’s-wear with really great price tags. Last time I was there, I left with 2 pairs of jeans, a scarf and a jumper with change from €100. Read the rest of this entry »

One of the hottest trends for Spring Summer 2010 in my eyes has to be ‘Future Warrior’. This fierce, sexy, powerful look is the next evolution of the military trend. Essentially it’s a mish mash of tribal elements and military detailing flash-forwarded to a galactic age. It’s without question one of my favourite trends to grace the runways this season.
At the core of this trend is ancient warrior elements modernised with futuristic twists. It features plenty of metal plating, leather tunics, chain-mail inspired detailing, tribal inspired motifs and breastplate-like accents.
Balmain, Sass & Bide and Balenciaga are just some of the labels to embrace Future Warrior. Versace’s take on the trend was much more romantic, contrasting harsh metallic breast-plate inspired detailing on the busts of dresses, with soft, flowing pastel fabrics.
I think this trend translates best to the highstreet and to everyday woman by mixing ultra-feminine pieces (soft, flowing fabric) with more tough details such as sharp metal plating or studded straps. Accessories like studded leather belts, edgier takes on the gladiator sandal and tribal jewellery would be worth investing in to give any outfit a warrior feel.

I first fell in love on a trip to New York about two years ago – no not with a person but with a pair of metallic silver converse. After some initial panic of not being able to hunt down a pair in my size, I was prepared, as I often am, to work through the pain of wearing a size smaller just to have them. As fortune would have it, a shiny pair of size 10’s was waiting for me in a little shop in Soho.
Like any good pair of converse, they’ve matured well and to this day I relish popping them on with a pair of dark navy jeans – they give the perfect amount of ‘pop’ to any outfit.
Over the past couple of seasons womenswear runways have been shimmering with shiny colors and all sorts of metallics, a look that is set to continue into Spring Summer 2010 with new trends such as Future Warrior. As is often the case, a couple of seasons later the trend really takes hold in menswear, trickling down to the highstreet.

Putting aside the latest trend of wearing underwear as outerwear (yes, corsets, bra-tops, thigh-highs and the like, worn as outerwear have appeared all over the catwalks of Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier & Dior etc) the importance of wearing the correct size bra should never be under-estimated. As the big day approaches it can be difficult trying to stay ‘on trend’ and choose a wedding dress that compliments your body shape. Here we share some favourite styles from this season and how to make them work for you.
The catwalks might have moved on to Autumn-Winter trends for 2010 but that’s not much good to you if you’re getting married over the next few months. If you haven’t decided on your wedding dress (or are thinking of chucking the one you impulse bought six months ago and going for a different style!) now is a good time to take a look at current trends and decide how you can add some of your own personality and individuality to your wedding day look. If the big day is fast-looming and you’re still on the hunt for the perfect bridal gown, the good news is that current wedding fashion trends are really diverse. You can have a wedding-gown style based on pretty much any era of fashion and still be extremely fashionable right now. How you wear it will make all the difference.
SLINKY SILHOUETTES BRINGING SEXY BACK
Whether you’ve got a fabulous, slim figure or just some fantastic control underwear, now is the time to rejoice as sexy, figure-hugging wedding dress silhouettes are hot, hot, hot. Read the rest of this entry »

By Alex Hatton
Ladies whether you follow the trend for a one-shoulder number or prefer to go strapless, make sure yours are worthy of exposure for the remainder of the chilly winter months ahead. Sexy shimmering shoulders need to be velvety soft, gleaming & irresistible – all of which is achievable with Mama Mio’s Omega Body Oil.
100% pure natural moisture, an un-oily oil, its simply amazing. The sink-in-quick blend of Argan (improves skin elasticity), Safflower (strengthens cell membranes), Jojoba (heals and protects against aging) and Sweet Almond oils (leaves a soft sheen on the skin with no residue) ensure your shoulders are quickly transformed from dull, lizardy-looking skin into luscious soft velvety skin!
