DRESSING FOR YOUR SHAPE

October 30th, 2009

body-shapes

One of the most beautiful things about the female form is that it comes in such a variety of different shapes and sizes. Definitely something to be celebrated, it’s also something that can cause a lot of headache when shopping.

Ask yourself, how many people do you know with the same body shape as you? Most stores manufacture sizes for a mass market, essentially creating garments made to fit millions of women. In reality this just doesn’t cut it.

KATE MOSS CHRISTMAS 2009 COLLECTION

October 29th, 2009

KM

Kate Moss’ latest collection for Topshop hits stores and online today. I was thrilled to discover the inspiration for the line came from some of the most fascinating cultures on the planet – the Orient.

The Christmas 2009 Collection is inspired by traditional Japanese and Chinese styles and techniques. Several of the pieces display prints of bamboo, lotus flowers and fireworks while others are oriental-style kimono shaped dresses in chiffons and silks.

ARE YOU A TYPICAL IRISH SHOE LOVER?

October 28th, 2009

michael-antonio-dida-heels-purple

We’re not quite a nation of Imedla Marcos proportions just yet but according to a new survey we’re not too far off it! A recent survey that looks at the question ‘What is it with women and shoes?” gives an interesting insight into Irish women’s fascination with and love of shoes!!

According to the survey on attitudes to shoes by www.Pigsback.com, most women own between 16 and 30 pairs of shoes and admit to choosing their foot candy on appearance first, rating it significantly higher than comfort, price and durability.

JEWELLERY JUNKIES COME OUT

October 28th, 2009

I knew I was going to have to come out sooner or later, after all the closet is only so deep, but I didn’t think it would be like this. But here goes. Yes, I admit it, I am…a self-confessed jewellery junkie and damn proud of it too! There, that wasn’t too bad.

BIO-SCULPTURE: THE PERMANENT NAIL POLISH!

October 23rd, 2009

One of the fastest ways for me to feel elegant and groomed is to get my nails painted. But after only a couple of days, I end up as most women do, with chipped unsightly nail polish that I can’t fix, and end up having to get out the remover and watch my €25 paint and file quite literally, slip away.

bios-summercolours

That is until I discovered BioSculpture permanent nail polish- and the wonderful Ciara Kershaw from Sparkles Mobile Beauty who applied them for me-oh the joy!

Bio sculpture is a wonderful alternative to acrylic nails that can often damage the nail bed and require expensive and time consuming up keep. Instead, the Gel is applied over the prepared natural nails in a colour of your choice [over a 100 to choose from], dries within minutes and continues to strengthen and promote nail growth while wearing them!

A KILDARE VILLAGE VIRGIN NO MORE

October 22nd, 2009

kildare-village

This week has been a week of firsts for me – first time to get stuck in a lift (not good), first time to watch vampire series True Blood (I’m addicted already) and my first time to visit Kildare Village.

kildare-village

Generally speaking outlet shopping isn’t usually my bag. I did it once on a trip to NYC and to be honest it wasn’t the best experience. With that in mind it’s no surprise then it’s taken me so long to finally buck up the courage to tackle Kildare Village. It opened in 2006 and has grown from just over an initial dozen shops to over 60 stores today and counting. One of the latest additions is Louise Kennedy.

CELEBRITY LEATHER LOOKS

October 21st, 2009

Leather is back with a bang this season and unlike in the past, leather this year is super fine and soft like butter making it easy to wear and ideal for layering.

Celebrities have embraced leather with open arms and here’s a few stars who really rock the look. The key to this trend – wear only one piece of leather in any outfit (jacket, trousers…) and mix with other fabrics.

Megan Fox looks stunning in this Stella McCartney leopard motif t-shirt, black cropped leather jacket, cropped black trousers and amazing purple heels.
